Daily Reading: They're Just Afraid

THREE OF SWORDS

Covid-19 has made all of us make changes to our daily lives. This to help as many people survive this pandemic as possible. And as with all great disasters and defining events, conspiracy theories have been born.

Both people who believe in conspiracy theories and those who don't should be asking themselves the same question: why do people believe in Covid-19 conspiracy theories?

Those who do believe don't do so because they're stupid. You have made some really smart decisions in the past. Such as not buying something you really wanted but knew it cost way too much.

Those who don't believe don't do so because they're smart. You have made some really stupid decisions in the past. Such as buying both the theatrical and extended cuts of The Lord of the Rings even though everyone knows the extended cuts are the only ones that matter.

Um...anyways...

So if it isn't a question of intelligence: why do people believe in Covid-19 conspiracy theories?

Covid-19 and the chaos surrounding it are painful and stressful to think about. Especially for essential workers who have no choice but to work with the threat of death hanging over them every day.

So instead of dealing with reality head on, some people make up scenarios where things are less chaotic and make sense.

Hence people believing Covid-19 was created as a biological weapon so they don't have to face the fact that it was a random event.

Or people believing that if you believe in God you can't catch Covid-19 so they don't have to face the fact that they can come down with the deadly virus.
