A Plague of Grackles

Credit
My favorite type of animal are birds. I find each species of bird both beautiful and lovable. There isn't a bird on this Earth that I hate. Okay...I have some bad feelings towards crows but I still admire them. In a past life I didn't like crows very much and the current reincarnation of me has those same feelings. For some reason...

I put out a bird feeder so that I could help feed the wild birds as well as provide something to look at while I spend long hours writing. At first there was no activity and I had to move the bird feeder to a better location in my small yard. The first birds to continually eat from the feeder were a pair of Cardinals that came around sunset every day.

So sunset every day was the time I looked forward to as I wanted to make sure they were okay. Then one day more birds finally started to visit the bird feeder: Blue Jays and Mourning Doves. Well I'm less certain with the latter species of bird that came to visit the bird feeder.

Everything seemed to be going great and I was more than excited. But then...then Common Grackles started to visit the bird feeder.

That wouldn't be so bad if the Common Grackles didn't eat a good majority of the food and force me to fill the bird feeder up more often. Me and my husband aren't rich so can't afford to continually fill up the bird feeder. Currently I do have a system so I still make sure the wild birds have food but I don't use up more than I can afford.

My husband gave me the advice that they're wild and so won't starve if I can't keep the bird feeder continually full.

So what's the point of this post?

It's that even though I love every bird on this Earth, I now have conflicted feelings about the Common Grackles. Never thought that could happen.
